True sine-wave inverters - 2007/08/18 16:10
The kind of inverter you can buy at your local store is going to be a modified sine wave inverter. It tries to match the true sine wave by blocking off the wave so it at least has the same amount of energy but it just doesn’t “flow” very well. It’s kind of like trying to roll on a notched wheel instead of a round one. This bangs your equipment around and causes premature failure or worst. If your using a drill or fan it just going to decrease the life of your equipment but if your powering a computer or plasma TV it could destroy them. So if your going to put something expensive in your car spend more on a true sine-wave inverter.
