solar - 2007/08/11 11:24
If youv'e seen my old Jeep you would have noticed the solar panels on the roof. They were more than just extra points, they kept my battery system topped off which makes for better performance and longer life. Well I started a solar business (Alternative Energy Systems) and have been taking on-line basic and now advanced courses. In studing the photovoltic industry I have come across several things that could be used in the car audio business. First off these batteries we have been using are not true deep cycle batteries. They have the same lead mesh as a conventional battery just a little thicker. True (deep cycle) batteries have 1/4 inch thick lead plates that are scored, and some have life expectancies of up to 15 years. They are called Solar or fork lift batteries. They come in 2,6,8,12,and 24 volt DC. For large systems these are a good idea. In weeks to come I tell you about some more kool stuff.
